Mortal remains of Seruwila thera back to his temple after the conflict
After the demise of the chief Sanganayake of the North and East chief incumbent of the Mangala Maha Seruwila temple most venerable Venerable Sarankeethi thera there was a conflict situation with regard to
the place of conducting of his last rites.Venerable Kotapola Amarakeerthi thera of the Seruwila Buddhist headquarters centre in Bauddhaloka Mawatha Colombo 7 and RP Suryiapperuma a resident of No 209 Suriyapaluwa Kadawatha on behalf of the Seruwila Mangala Maha Viharaya Chaitiya development society had fought for the remains of the Chief Sanganayake.This had ended in the matter to be taken to the Chief Magistrates courts.
A special panel had been appointed in this regard to resolve this issue.A verdict had been issued by the Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya on the 03rd instant to cremate the mortal remains of Venerable Saranakeerti thera at the premises of Seuwila Mangala Maha viharaya.
The Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya had added that Venerable Saranakeerthi Thera had rendered a yeoman service to the Buddhists while serving as the Chief incumbent of Seruwila Mangala Maha temple and had been instrumental in the phase of the Marvillaru battle with the army had with the LTTE terrorists and he is a person who had already in to our history books.
The Chief Magistrate had explained this to all Bikkhus present and wanted to hand over the remains to his brother to be cremated at Seruwila.
