New Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya sworn in
The new Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya had been sworn in his new position today before the President Maithripala Sirisena.
On the 10th Wednesday the constitutional council approved the appointment of the new Attorney
general who was the Senior additional Solicitor General.The attorney general Yuwanjan Wijetilleke had retired from this position last January and until the new appointment Suhada Gamlath had served as the acting Attorney General.The new Attorney General Jayantha Jayasuriya is an old boy of Maliyadeva College Kurunegala had entered the law college in the year 1979 and had taken oaths as a attorney at law in the year 1981.
From the year 1983 he had worked at the Attorney General's department and in the year 2011 had been appointed as the Senior additional solicitor general.
Jayantha Jayasuriya is the 29th Attorney General to be appointed. The first Attorney General had been appointed in the year 1884 .He was Francis Fleming.
