Construction of Sobitha Thera's statue temporarily postponed
A ceremony had been arranged at the Matugama pradeshiya saba auditorium on the 06th instant to commence the construction of a statue of late
Most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha thera at the auditorium premises of the Matugama PS. This ceremony had been cancelled and postponed owing to protests that had been raised from certain quarters. This information had been revealed by the secretary of the Matugama pradeshiya saba Asoka Ranasinghe.The statue of late Maduluwawe Sobitha thera was to be constructed in the premises of the auditorium of the Matugama PS.The ceremony has had to be postponed temporarily on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Western Province Isuru Devapriya the secretary of the Matugama PS had confessed.
It is reported that further instructions are to be received from the Chief Minister shortly on this proposed project. This postponement would be because of security reasons and the Matugama police is to be issued instructions not to allow any persons not authorised to enter the premises of the auditorium of Matugama PS.
