Supreme Court Judge Abrew requested to resign - BASL

For the accusation of having beaten domestic servant mercilessly the Supreme
Court Judge Sarath de Abrew has been requested to resign without making a disgrace to the legal profession. This request for him to resign from his post as Supreme Court judge has been made by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka by their letter of the 2nd instant addressed to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

In this letter addressed to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Courts it has been emphasised that under these circumstances Supre Court judge Sarath de Abrew should not be given any authority to exercise his delegated powers. The Bar Association of Sri Lanka are concerned over this issue and they are having a track of his work had been made known in the letter they had addressed to the Chief Justice K Sri Pavan.

It is reported that in accordance with the complaint lodged the criminal investigations unit is making discreet investigations.
