To succeed IGP four seniors compete
The present Inspector General of Police NK Illangakoon is dur to retire on the 12th of April it is reported.It is learnt that to succeed him four senior Deputy Inspector General of Police are competing
in a keen tussle.They are the senior Inspector General of Police in charge of administration Gamini Nawaratne, the Senior Inspector General of Police in charge of President's security SM.Wickremasinghe, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Western Province Pujith Jayasundera and the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the southern province DC Wickremaratne.
It is also learnt that the next Inspector General of Police would be elected by the constitutional council of the Police council with the President's approval.
