Action filed against Kumara Welgama for creating a post non existent and paying lakhs
The officials of the Bribery and corruption unit had filed a court case against the former Minister of transport and Member of Parliament Kumara Welgama in the Colombo Magistrate courts for the charges of making payments of rupees thirty two lakhs during the period of the previous Rajapaksa regime.
Kumara Welagama the Member of Parliament had created a post of deputy chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board when he was chairman and had appointed a person to a position created by him and had paid wages to the tune of Rs 32 lakhs.The case had been filed by the officials pof the Bribery and Corruption unit on the 21st instant.
The person thus appointed is one LA.Wimalaratne and there had been no such position earlier in the SLTB.This case id to be taken up on the February 16th.The courts had sent summons to Kumara Welgama to appear before courts on this day.
