Fraudulent financial activities during Hudson's tenure at SLBC to courts
The Chief Magistrate of the Magistrates courts in Colombo Gihan Pilapitiya had ordered the Director General of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting corporation to furnish evidence in regard to complaints lodged at the Financial Frauds Investigating unit during the tenure of Hudson Samarasinghe as the Chairman of the SLBC.
Accordingly 16 original charge sheets pertaining to misappropriation of funds and malpractices that had taken place during the tenure of Hudson Samarasinghe at the SLBC had been sent by he Director
General had r to the Chief Magistrate courts requesting the Chief Magistrate to inform the Fraud Criminal Investigation Unit to conduct investigations on these alleged frauds and malpractices.During the period when Hudson Samarasinghe and Samantha Weliweriya were functioning as the Chairman and Director respectively of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, there had been several complaints made to the Financial Frauds Investigation unit about the misappropriation of funds and malpractices. The authorities of the FCID had requested evidence in this regard to commence investigations. Hence the present Director General of the SLBC had provided written evidence on request.
Some of the allegations are that without tender procedure vehicles have been purchased from Micro company and disposing the vehicles had in possession at his own discretion. paying huge leasing instalments, giving unlimited privileges to Corporation heads and their relatives to make advertisements, payment of private hospital bills from the funds of the SLBC ,air-conditioning private houses with funds of the SLBC, spending millions of money for the transmitting towers in Jaffna unnecessarily and also spending SLBC money in reckless manner.
