Before  foreign 'stars' are brought permission should be sought - Cultural Minister

Before overseas male, female singers .actors and actresses are brought to Sri lanka for variety shows the prior permission of the Minister of Internal affairs ,Wayamba development and cultural affairs SB Navinna should be obtained .This was added by the Minister Navinna yesterday the 29th instant.

Adding further to this instructions he had added that as a government we all should endeavour to preserve our culture and ancient heritage. In this regard the organisers who bring overseas artistes should initially satisfy themselves to the effect that the artistes who are brought to Sri Lanka perform according to the restrictions allowed in our culture.

If the intentions  of the organisers are to earn money then they should place our culture and our country before money if they intend earning through these musical shows.

The president Maithripala Sirisena had said in the media that the organisers should be  whipped by a "mudu tail". This had been uttered by the President as he had understood deeply the gravity of this incident. Anyhow the Minister SB.Navinna had said that he will be speaking to the President in this regard and if required would bring in laws to prevent such occurrences which would harm our culture and heritage.

He emphasised that our culture  and ancient heritage which has a history of over two thousand five hundred years need to be preserved. This should be foremost in the minds of all people in our country. To preserve our culture and heritage the government alone cannot do, but all artistes in Sri Lanka should come forward to achieve this he had added further.
