Bra-flinging shows banned in Sri Lanka in future!
-- President Maithripala Sirisena
Latin American singer Enrique Iglesias's concert which was held recently in Colombo created such a pandemonium by now so as to provoke President Maithripala Sirisena to comment on it at a social
event held in Amparai today. Upto what extent the incident where a woman in the audience threw a brassier at Enrique at the concert suits the Sri Lankan culture was something which came in for polemic. This is what the President said about it in his speech: "Organisers of immodest musical shows by inviting foreign singers who destroy the Sri Lankan culture, civility and behaviour should be battered by a 'Madu (skate) valigaya'. It has come to a state where girls who become intoxicated having drunk beverages such as arrak, beer and whiskey after spending for tickets priced at Rs. 50,000 30,000 then happen to fling their brassiers. Some get on to the stage and kiss the singer. I won't leave room for organising such indecent shows. I will take measures to prevent granting approval to somebody who is going to do programmes of this nature in the future".
