For funding "Tharunayata Hetak", Nalaka Godahewa taken into custody
The former Chairman of the Security Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka Dr Nalaka Godahewa has been arrested by the Police this
morning. He had been arrested when a statement was to be taken from him by the Financial Frauds Investigation unit.This is to question him on the sum of rupees 50 lakhs that had been given from the fund of the Security Exchange Commission of Sri lanka when he held the position as the Chairman of the SEC. The deputy director of the Security Exchange Commission Dhammika Perera had been arrested earlier and had been wanting to arrest Dr Nalaka Godahewa who had been hiding when the FCID was searching for him.
The two. DHAMMIKA Perera and Dr Nalaka Godahewa had been wanted to question on the sum of rupees 05 million that had been given to the Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa's "Tharunayata Hetak" organisation. The purpose of this grant had been to utilize for training of young youth in the activities and project of the Security Exchange Commission.
It is stated in the Security Exchange commission act that the funds in the commission could never be given to any activity outside the commission.
