Kurunegala distribution of motor cycles ceremony postponed owing to Akila, Dayasiri conflicts
The Kurunegala district authorities have decided to postpone the ceremony that was organised for the distribution of motor cycles for the
government graduates in Kurunegala indefinitely. The reason for postponing this ceremony had been owing to the differences the two heavyweight ministers of the Kurunegala district Akila Viraj Kariyawasam and Dayasiri Jayasekera who had tried to favour the recipients of their choice. It is reported that the government graduates members of the previous government and the present government had been vying for this facility and it has revealed that politicisation of this event had led it to be postponed indefinitely.
It had revealed the politicians had tried to derive political advantage in this instance. The motor cycles were to be given free was said earlier but it is learnt now that a sum close to rupees one lakh has to be paid by each recipient.
In this regard the government graduate employees have requested the Divisional Secretary to distribute the motor cycles devoid of political affiliations to them.
