A motorcade to Carlton residence to request Mahinda to contest in the election
Many stalwarts and leaders of the parties of the United National Freedom Alliance have planned to
travel in a motorcade to the Carlton residence of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa to pacify him to participate in the forthcoming general election.Those who will participate in the motorcade would be former Minsters of the previous government, representatives of the parliament, provincial councils, palath sabha and of the local government bodies.
It is reported that on this day the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa is to make a statement.
Those who would participate are the leader of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna Dinesh Gunawardena, leader of the new democratic Samasamaja party Vasudeva Nanaykkara, leader of the National Freedom Alliance Wimal Weerawansa,the leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Udaya Gammanpila and Members of Parliament Dullas Alahapperuma,Kumara Welgama, S.M.Chandrasena,Gamini Lokuge, Mahinda Aluthgamage .It is reported that fifteen such members in a committee had taken this decision to meet the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The group will make a request to the former president to stand up with them to rescue the country. In the event the former president agrees a massive meeting would be held in Anuradhapura on the 09th July with his participation.
