It is reported reliably that the mortal remains of the most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha thera would be cremated with full state honours in a ceremony conducted at the Parliamentary grounds in
Sri Jayewardenapura on Thursday the 12th instant at 3 pm.The special Sri Lankan Airways flight which brought the mortal remains of the most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thera from Singpapore had touched down at the Bandaranaike International airport,Katunayake at 19.15 p.m. The mortal remains were then brought in a special hearse escorted to a popular funeral undertaker's parlour in Borella and was to be taken to the Kotte Raja Mahaviharaya at around 2 a.m on the9th instant.Most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobtha Thera was the chief Incumbent of the Sri Naga Viharaya Kotte.
On the day of the funeral on Thursday the 12th had been declared by the government as a day of national mourning.
