Soma Edirisingha passes away
Mrs. Soma Edirisingha of EAP Holdings passed away this morning at Nawaloka Hospital. She was 76 years old at the time of her death.
She participated at a Walk connected to her social services activities while somewhat in an ailing
condition and after that Walk she was hospitalised and passed away in this manner after three or four days on admittance. Mrs. Edirisingha who stepped into the business field after the demise of her husband Mr. E.A.P. Edirisingha is a lady who happened to be a leading business lady in Sri Lanka who had the fortune of being acclaimed with various awards. Soma Edirisingha was born in Meegoda on July 5th 1939. The EAP businesses which was confined to the network of Swarnamahal Jewellers and EAP Pawn Brokering later on stepped on to the entertainment field under the leadership of Soma Edirisingha. She thus became the owner of cinema halls, FM channels, rupavahini channels and also film production, finally directing the entire EAP Media network.Mrs. Soma Edirisingha who was engaged in numerous social activities was associated with Janasarana, Lion's Club, Punarjeewa and a number of projects. She had the fortune of being bestowed with the title of Doctor by the Open University in the year 2005. She leaves behind her three sons Jeewaka, Nalaka, Asanka and daughter Deepa.
