Mahinda loyalists to contest the small election from a separate party
It is reported that with the assistance of a part of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party,the United Peoples Freedom Alliance party would come forward to contest the small election from a new party of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance party.
In this regard on the day before yesterday the 18th the loyalist group of Mahinda Rajapaksa had met at a meeting to discuss and finalise this issue held at Member of Parliament Gamini Lokuge's residence. It is learnt that the loyalist group from several small parties had unanimously agreed to this proposal.
The meeting was held with the participation of the leader of the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna,Dinesh Gunawardena, the leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya, Udaya Gamanpila,Members of parliament Bandula Gunawardena and Prasanna Ranatunga had participated.
It is learnt and reported that the Members of Parliament who are Sri Lanka Freedom Party loyalists of Mahinda Rajapaksa too are willing to lend the support to the new UPFA Alliance party to be formed
In this context it is forecasted that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party with the leadership of the President Maithripala Sirisena is in jeopardy. It is also leant that President Maithripala Sirisena has intentions of strengthening the party and for this exercise SB.Dissanayake has been appointed to lead.The local government and the Provincial council election is scheduled to be held in March 2016.
