Admin Rupasagara of Facebook Account who was found as having slung mud at Ravi ... remanded

A complaint was lodged at the Criminal Investigation Department recently by Minister of Finance, Mr. Ravi Karunanayaka against an incident where someone has been maintaining his official Facebook Account and Twitter Page and thus filling it up with matters unknown to him in and lting manner.

On an investigation conducted by the officers concerned it has been revealed that it is one Biyagama Mudiyanselage Rupasagara who is responsible for this activity. After the Minister was informed about this individual, what was exposed was that Rupasagara was the Social Media Co-ordinator who had served under the Minister previously. This person had been interdicted in the past during  service
the Minister for the offence of an incorrect Post published by him. On that occasion he had left his services after getting cross with the Minister and had wanted to take his revenge for being interdicted by withholding the relevant passwords from him. He had thus been enjoying himself from time to time in a strange way by publishing various news that degraded the Minister. After the Minister came to know that he had been publicizing false matters in the face of society and was maintaining this social media without legal authority the Minister by using the Minister's name he had called him and made a request to hand over the secret data. However it is said that this person had refused to comply. Subsequently matters went so far as the Minister filing a court case against Biyagama Mudiyanselage Rupasagara for the offence of not transferring the administrative authority of the Page being run under the Minister's name.

The suspect who was produced before courts today was ordered to be remanded till 27th November by the magistrate. The said investigation was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department  on the complaint lodged by the Secretary of the Finance Ministry to the CID. Evidence that could be proved in courts that he had published unauthorized information in the Facebook Account at the time he was in charge of Admin in 2015 too was found.
